ABOUT HOME & SCHOOL
Shady Grove is a vibrant, action-packed school and the best way to get involved and always know what’s going on at the school is to join our Home & School Association (H&SA).
The H&SA is similar to a PTO or PTA, but is made up of every Shady Grove family, teacher, and staff member. Together, we work to strengthen our school community by supporting students and teachers, planning special programs and events, funding building improvements, and creating opportunities for families to connect.
Whether you're volunteering at an event, attending a meeting, reading our newsletter, or cheering on your child, you're an important part of what makes Shady Grove such a special place. There are many rewarding ways to get involved in what we do!
We hope that you will consider becoming an active participant in our association by attending bi-monthly evening meetings and volunteering as you are able during your child’s time here. Please keep your eye out for information on opportunities to get involved during the school year!
WHAT DOES THE HSA DO?
Our HSA plans, organizes & funds most of the events & programs happening at Shady Grove. We have a hand in pretty much everything that goes on in the school.
- We throw several large events each month including Harvest Fest, Science Night, Parent's Night Out, Family Fun Night, and more!
- We coordinate room parent volunteers to help classroom teachers with activities and class parties
- We book school assemblies & coordinate after school clubs
- We design and sell spirit wear
- We solicit donations and organize fundraisers like the Boosterthon and Dine & Donates
- We provide our teachers and staff with annual supply stipends, mini-grants and treat them with appreciation gifts & breakfasts/lunches throughout the year
- We support our Encore teachers during concerts, art shows, sporting events, and school musical
- We run the Scholastic Book Fair in the fall and spring and the school Holiday Shop in the winter
- We share events in our newsletters, social media and Membership Toolkit website
- We photograph events, and design the Shady Grove Yearbook
- We maintain the Shady Grove Learning Garden
