VOLUNTEER AT SHADY GROVE

Welcome to Shady Grove! We have so many wonderful events planned for this year. There are many different levels and ways for parents and community members to get involved! Whether you are a stay-at-home parent, full-time working parent, grandparent or guardian, there is a place for you in the HSA.  We have volunteer opportunities during the school day, after school, weekends, summers, and fully remote to fit your busy schedules.

All volunteers must complete the Wissahickon School District volunteer approval process before participating in school activities.

Volunteer Opportunities

Once you're approved, watch for volunteer opportunities throughout the year!

  • Family Fun Night - Plan evening event for all families, such as Bingo or comedy show in April

  • Art Committee - Help the art teachers mount artwork throughout the year and help set up/clean up the Art Show in May

  • Dine and Donate- Schedule one dine and donate fundraiser per month at local restaurants or other businesses

  • Parents Night Out - Plan Trivia Night with raffle baskets in February

  • Fourth Grade Committee (Parents with Incoming 4th Graders)- Help with 4th grade scarecrow making in October and other fourth grade events

  • Garden Committee - Work with the chair to help classes in the garden 1-2 mornings per month in the Fall and Spring.

  • Book Fair Committee - Help the chair organize and set-up Fall and Spring book fairs with Scholastic

  • Harvest Fest - Help the chair plan an evening event that includes trunk-or-treat, DJ & food sales in October

  • Teacher Appreciation Committee - Help support in-school opportunities to give thanks to our teachers, such as lunch or small gifts throughout the year and teacher appreciation week in May

  • Holiday Shop - Help the chair work with holiday gift company to create shopping opportunity for students during December

  • 4th/5th Grade Talent Show - Help the chair plan evening event, including in-school rehearsals in January

  • Buddy Breakfast - Help the chair plan before-school breakfast for families in February

INTERESTED IN A LEADERSHIP POSITION?

 

Our Home & School Executive Board is led by two co-presidents who each serve a two-year term. The other positions each have a junior and senior person and they serve one year as the junior and one year as the senior. These positions are: Treasurer, Secretary, Communications Coordinator, Special Programs coordinator, Hospitality Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator. We also have one to three 5th Grade Committee Coordinators who serve a one year term. These elections occur in May of each year.

We also have several important Committee Chair positions as part of our Auxiliary Board that meet occasionally with our Executive Board. The Committee Chairs are appointed by the Executive Board throughout the school year and there is no term limit.
